AllBum.Art - Alternative Art-Work for Album and Single Covers

Continuing the festive frolics, here's a remix of Elton John's classic Christmas choon entitled Step Into Christmas. There are a number of original covers for this but our remix focuses on one that is, to put it least, a bit lacking in festive cheer. It's just Mr Dwight, and that's about it. Our remix shows a babe who has not only stepped into Christmas but has obviously had too much Christmas cheer as she has slipped and fallen down on her ass. And for some reason, she is naked except for a Christmas hat and a pair of high heel boots!

Just how many cover versions of songs is it possible to make cover remixes of? Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town was originally recorded in 1934 but this remix is of the 1978 version by Bruce Springsteen (no stranger to AllBum.Art). Instead of Santa, a reindeer, a hippo and a bird singing in a bath (yes, that's what the original is), the remix shows Santa checking out if a young lady had been naughty or nice. By the looks of it she is both, which must leave Mr Claus in quite a quandary as to what to do with her. Any suggestions?

Another of those Holiday songs that has been sung by a cast of thousands, Winter Wonderland is a seasonal classic. This version is sung by Aretha Franklin and the cover for the song shows Ms Franklin in a suitably festive outfit. Our remix of the cover is also suitably festive and relays more of the fun of being in a winter wonderland. Playing in the snow, getting cold. Well you would wearing no sweater now wouldn't you?

The song O Tannenbaum is the German name for O Christmas Tree and has been sung by so many artists that instead of picking on one particular one, we have just remixed a generic cover taken from an ancient album on the Decca record label. Instead of the winter scene on the Rhine, you can see instead a naked Christmas tree - naked that is except for a single bauble. Any offers to help decorate it?

Ho, ho, ho, and here we go for the first of the holiday remixes. This song by the Spice Girls is just one of the many recordings of Sleigh Ride. This one was the B-Side of their single 2 Become 1 which was a Christmas hit in 1996. Officially there is no cover but there was a promo released with a separate cover for this single. We've removed that cover and left just one of the girls with her sleigh. Now go ride it!

What is it with people that they aren't happy to have sexy AllBum.Art to brighten up their music collection? Following a complaint that a lot of the stuff we remix is not necessarily current chart hits, we then got a letter from Joe McGonagall of Alberta, Canada. Joe says:

You guys are always using very young women and girls in your remixes. How about some more mature ladies for us more mature music fans, eh?

That's not actually a bad idea Joe, even for a Canadian. This remix of the album Red Shoes by Kate Bush has two versions. One using a younger model, and one using a more mature lady. Let us know which you prefer. And we will try not to just use cute young babes in future remixes, though it's fair to say that even older gentlemen (and even Canadians) are as happy to reminisce on what could have been rather than focussing on what might be? Eh?

Drive by The Cars is one of those songs that every truck driver should have available to play at a second's notice on the cassette player in their cab. And cab drivers should have available to play at a second's notice on the crappy old CD player in their dashboard. The original cover, nice as it is, shows The Cars. Our remixes show two alternative views. Firstly a chick who is obviously waiting for her passenger to show up and is enjoying some sun until they do. The second has a chick who is ready to go - in more ways than two!

Forever In Blue Jeans by Neil Diamond. Do we need to add more? A classic song that lives on in the hearts and minds of Mr Diamond's fans to this very day (those of his fans who still have hearts and who are living and breathing that is). The original cover shows Mr Diamond. That's it. Just him. The remix shows a babe who is in blue jeans (and very little else). Forever? It doesn't look like it!

The song Vienna by Ultravox was, apparently, the breakthrough song of the 1980s new romantic synth-pop era. This remix of the album cover of the same name comes from Simon Lampeter of Britain who says:

The new romantic era was all about romance and newness. The original album cover has neither. My remix has both. Hope you like it.

Which category should this Taylor Swift cover remix go under? Tied Together With A Smile was never a single and it wasn't an album either. It was just a song on an album and as such would not normally have its own cover. But it does! And the remix helps explain the soug (which is about bulimia). You see the reason that the girls are so thin is simply because they are tied together. If they untied themselves then they would be able to scoff some cakes (which they could certainly do with).
