chubby checker pony time remixchubby checker pony time 1In the 1960s there were lots of crazy new dances such as the Mash Potato and the Stomp. This was one of Chubby Checker's attempts to launch one, in this case Pony Time. The original cover shows Mr Checker demonstrating the various moves of the Pony Time. The remix shows a naked chick in high heel leather boots doing a pony impression of her own. Just don't ask where her pony tail is 'mounted'!

Summer In The City - The Lovin' Spoonful

lovin spoonful summer 2lovin spoonful summer 1Those summer songs keep on coming. This 1966 classic from The Lovin' Spoonful will be flooding out of radios from the East to the West coast as the sun beats down on the city streets. But the cover shows the band lazing on a sunny afternoon on a detatched stairway to nowhere. The remix shows what summer in the city should really look like: a hot chick in a tight leotard wearing a hat. Cool (literally)!

A triple play from The Beach Boys, and their American classic Surfin' USA especially for the 4th of July. On the original cover the boys are carrying their surfboard on the beach, so thumbs up for a cover that reflects the song. On the first remix is a blonde babe carrying her own surfboard - doesn't anyone want to help her with it? On the second remix is another babe and her board. Why these babes choose to surf naked we don't know, but who's complaining?

Bend Me, Shape Me - Amen Corner

amen corner bend me shape ramen corner bend me shape mBend Me, Shape Me, anyway you want me. That's what Amen Corner believed constituted appropriate lyrics in 1966. Not until Aqua's Barbie Girl in the late 1990s did such submissive lyrics re-appear. The cover shows a doll ready to be bent and shaped, but only a wooden one. How much nicer if the doll was real. In the remix she is and has clearly already been bent. Next comes the shaping.

Captain Of Your Ship - Reparata And The Delrons

reparata and the delrons remixreparata and the delrons 1An entry from Darren Cleethorpe from Hull in England. He says that this song was used as the theme tune to the ferry timetables on his local radio station 'Radio Humberside'. Reparata And The Delrons are apparently a US group but who enjoyed bigger success in good ole' England than here in the motherland. Captain Of Your Ship was their biggest hit but Darren says that the remix is more the kind of captain he'd like to ferry than the original members of the band. We agree with you there Darren.

Light My Fire - The Doors

doors light my fire remixdoors light my fire 1Come On Baby, Light My Fire is what The Doors told us to do in 1966. Due to today's health and safety legislation such a call to action would no longer be permitted and the song would have had to have been called Put My Fire Out. The cover needs to reflect these changes in society and so instead of showing the Doors standing in a flame, it shows a fire-fighter ready to douse them.

I Want To Hold Your Hand - The Beatles

beatles hold your hand remixbeatles hold your hand 1And please say to me, you'll let me hold your hand - I Want To Hold Your Hand, this 1963 single from The Beatles proclaims. But the cover leaves many questions unanswered. Who is it that wants to do the hand holding, the whole band or just one of them? And whose hand is it they want to hold? The remixed cover solves these issues and shows that the holder and holdee are both hot babes and look (as if you needed telling), one of them appears to be buck naked. No wonder they wanted to hold her hand.

Itsy Witsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini - Ron Smith

ron smith teenie bikini remixron smith teenie bikini 1Perhaps not the most well-known version of the song Itsy Witsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini, but this one from Ron Smith has a cover that desperately needs a remix. And what a remix. The bikini on the babe on the new cover is so itsy bitsy and teenie weenie that all the polka dots have become invisible. The bikini itself is only just visible in this dimension. Surely the modern version of what Mr Smith (and others like him) thought about when they sang the song?

nancy sinatra these boots rnancy sinatra these boots aName someone who doesn't know that These Boots Are Made For Walkin'. Because that's just what they'll do. One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you. Nancy Sinatra's 1966 classic has a cover which ain't too shabby. But with the addition of a little modern twist, the boots become much more the kind of thing that is suited to walkin' all over you. Spikey, to boot!

Born To Be Wild - Steppenwolf

steppenwolf born wild remixsteppenwolf born wild 1Even today the phrase, "Get your motor running" is well known. Few realize that this 1968 song from rock band Steppenwolf is where it comes from. That's probably because the cover is awful. The more important question is, does the girl on the remixed cover look like she was Born To Be Wild? She is naked and lying on a chair. Did you hear, she is naked! Born to be naked? Let's hope she's wild with it.
