She's So Unusual, Cyndi Lauper, that is. Of that there could be little doubt. As if to illustrate her unusualness, on the original album cover artwork we can see Ms Lauper kicking off her heels and dancing in one of her crazy dresses. On the remix is a babe who is, potentially, more unusual than that. She is wearing blue scales, is carrying a ray gun and has two antennae on her head. From this angle, we can only hope that she is a she, but we know that she is so unusual. Cadet!
Album Covers, Albums Of The 1980s, Single Covers, Singles Of The 1980s, Outdoors, Public, Safe For WorkTeena Marie tells us that she is Naked To The World. But on the original cover artwork for her album and single of the same name, she is clearly fully clothed, not naked. And where is the world to be found? On the remix is a babe who is naked and what's more, she is standing in front of a large crowd of people who we shall, for the sake of this remix, call the world at large. Unlike the original artist, she is then naked to the world, and sanity has been restored. Pavement!
Seamonsters (whoooo, splash). It is an album by The Wedding Present. That has to be stated as the original album cover artwork just shows a number of red < V > type signs floating around on a dark background. On the remix we see two real life seamonsters, who have decided to take a splash about in the sea. Don't get too close because if they start moving too quickly, a vortex will form and you will be lost at sea forever. Whoooo.
Easy Tiger! That is what this album by Ryan Adams is entitled. This love of endangered animals is illustrated by Mr Adams sitting on a bench, smoking a cigarette. Everything is in black and white, except for his digital watch face which for some mysterious reason is green. On the remix we find a babe painted to look like a tiger who is crawling up (or is it down) some stairs. She had better be careful not to rub that paint off on the woodwork. Easy now!
It seems that James's idea of a Gold Mother, is some kind of blurred, watery image of what could possibly be Mary, but could just about be anyone if the original album front cover artwork is a reflection of their opinion. The AllBum.Art opinion on what constitutes a gold mother, is a mature golden-haired babe, wearing a gold basque, and gold high heel shoes. A sexy gold mother [insert your own word to complete the sentence here]. Flim?
We have to give credit where it's due to Altered Images. The original album front cover artwork for Pinky Blue, other than the small picture of the band in the bottom right hand corner (having pink and blue confetti dropped on them), is very pink, and blue. This color scheme has been carried over to the remix where we see a babe wearing a mask with ears, who is nothing if not very pink and very blue, with a little purple here and there for good measure. She may also have her bra on back to front. Crimson!
What would you expect to see on the cover of an album called A Life Of Surprises? According to Prefab Sprout it would be a tiny picture of three people standing next to, or sitting on, a motorbike. Which may be surprising, but not as surprising as the picture on the remixed front cover. The remix shows a guy who is clearly very surprised that the busty woman standing next to him has slipped off her clothes and is showing him her ample bosom. If he has a life of surprises like that, his life must be very interesting. Expert!
Here comes Missy Elliott and her album Under Construction. The original front cover artwork shows Ms Elliott sitting by a wall with what, in the 1980s, would have been known as a ghetto-blaster. There is no sign of any construction. On the remix are three mature women standing on a building site, wearing (well, almost wearing) protective clothing. It is a wonder that any construction would take place with them standing around, as they would be very distracting. Dig!
There are literally millions of apples in the world, but Lloyd Banks has chosen a Rotten Apple. The original album cover artwork makes this very clear by illustrating, erm, err, uh... Well it doesn't does it? The remix shows a babe who is using the largest rotten apple in existence, that of a computer. Why she is using it without any clothes on is unclear, perhaps that is why it ended up being rotten in the first place, or maybe not. Slink!
What does Down On The Upside mean? Perhaps Soundgarden know what it means, but the original album front cover artwork doesn't explain it, unless it is somehow connected to being on a stage with a waterfall in the background. On the remix we find a babe who is, quite simply, upside down. Her down is on the upside, and her up is on the downside. Whether this is what the band meant we don't know. Invert!
