shakin stevens green door 2shakin stevens green door 1Good ole Shakin' Stevens and his aimless cover artwork. On the original single cover for Green Door, we find Mr Stevens loafing around in a white jacket and black shirt. No sign of the green door though. On the remix we find a babe who is standing in a green doorway. Sadly we can't see much about her as the lighting in the green doorway is not that good, but what we can see would make it tempting enough to turn the light on and find out more. Or just go through the green door. Handle!

Still Of The Night - Whitesnake

whitesnake still of the night remixwhitesnake still of the night 1This is one of our favorite remixes for some time. Why? Well although the original single cover artwork for Still Of The Night by Whitesnake does appear to be set at night, with all that lightning, it doesn't appear very still. On the remix the situation is very changed and the scene presented is still definitely at night, but has much more of a suggestion of stillness and calm. It even has a touch of serenity about it, don't you think? Pause!

A Forest - The Cure

the cure a forest remixthe cure a forest 1We give almost full marks to The Cure for the original single cover artwork for A Forest, as it clearly illustrates a forest. So why, then, would we at AllBum.Art wish to remix it. Simply because we had this really great picture of a naked babe in a forest and we could think of no better single to use it with. Her magenta stilettos also contrast with the verdant forest, conjuxticating the ethereal with the turgid. Or something like that. Arty!

pink floyd when the tigers broke free remixpink floyd when the tigers broke free 1Another remix for Pink Floyd and this time it is of the original cover artwork of their single When The Tigers Broke Free. On the original cover we find someone screaming. Perhaps when the tigers broke free they caused such an uproar. On the remix we find a babe sitting on a tiger skin rug. After the tigers broke free they were obviously killed and made into rugs for naked babes. Roar!

Walk Through The Fire - Peter Gabriel

peter gabriel walk through the fire remixpeter gabriel walk through the fire 1Walk Through The Fire is what Peter Gabriel tells us to do in his single taken from the film Against All Odds. But on the original cover artwork all we can see is Mr Gabriel smiling. What is he smiling at? Maybe what's making him have such a grin on his face is what is shown on the remix, which is to say a naked babe walking through fire. Maybe it isn't that, but it sure makes for a better cover. Improve!

abba the winner takes it all remixabba the winner takes it all 1Having finished our week-long Ohio Players special, we return to another band who have so many remixes on AllBum.It that they could have had a week of their own: ABBA! On the original cover of The Winner Takes It All we find the four band members in flowery shirts. Maybe that was a winning look in the 70's but on the remix we find four babes who are definitely winners. How do we know they are winners? They are holding trophies! Top!

Showing Out (Get Fresh At The Weekend) - Mel And Kim

mel and kim showing out remixmel and kim showing out 1A user submitted entry from the self proclaimed 'Q of Q Green' from London (we have no idea what that means but perhaps any of our English readers could help translate). Q takes up the story:
Mel and Kim had a few hits, but were never respectable. The Mel (of Mel and Kim) was a topless and nude model and so I have remixed the cover so that she is Showing Out.

So, one of those covers that remixes itself. Well done Q we like your style and vow to visit Q Green one day. London!

the clash i fought the law remixthe clash i fought the law 1Another remix for rock rebels The Clash, this time it is their hit I Fought The Law. On the original cover we find the band members looking forlorn. Maybe they have fought the law, but the law won. Oh, hang on, that's what they claim. Anyway, on the remixed single cover artwork we find a babe actively in the process of fighting the law. She is doing so by holding up a placard wearing nothing but sneakers. She may win, she may lose, but it's the taking part that counts. Riot!

Ghostdancing - Simple Minds

simple minds ghostdancing 2simple minds ghostdancing 1We were not sure whether Ghostdancing by Simple Minds should also be in our list of halloween hits but we've added it there anyway. The odd thing is that on the original single cover artwork there are no ghosts, and no dancing going on. On the remix, both these flaws are corrected and we can finally see what ghostly dancing looks like. Etheric!

So Near To Christmas - Alvin Stardust
Saturday, 24 December, 2016, 05:01 - Singles Of The 1980s, Christmas Crackers

alvin stardust so near to xmas remixalvin stardust so near to xmas 1Twas the night before Christmas and therefore So Near To Christmas, which is what Alvin Stardust sings about in the single of the same name. On the original cover, the odd thing, is that the only reference to the holidays is a piece of holly stuck in the bottom right hand corner. Otherwise it could be any Gothic evening of the year. On the remix it's definitely near to Christmas as a babe prepares for the special day by putting her shoes on. She might have remember to put her other clothes on first though. Hat!
