chris rea driving home for christmas remixchris rea driving home for christmas 1As someone once said, 'It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas'. It wasn't Chris Rea though, but when you hear Driving Home For Christmas on the radio, you know that the festive season is in full swing. On the original cover we see a pretty little winter scene in many shades of blue. But there's no-one driving anywhere. In the remix we see what driving home at Christmas involves: a sled, husky dogs, snow and someone to steer it in the right direction. Like a hot naked babe for example. Gidd'yup!

Christmas Lights - Coldplay

coldplay christmas lights 1coldplay christmas lights 2coldplay christmas lights remix
A triple-whammy Christmas remix for Coldplay's single Christmas Lights. The original cover shows some kind of child's painting of a dark winter sky and some weird blobs of light - presumably that kind of thing is classed as 'charming' in England where Coldplay are based. Here, though, we like our lights draped around the bodies of some hot babes. In the first remix, one such babe is helping the other by doing the draping. In the second remix, a solitary babe is clearly having difficulty getting her lights up. Probably this is not helped by her lack of clothing. And she is surely at risk of getting a nasty shock as is anyone who walks in and finds her at it. Zap!

I'm Gonna Lasso Santa Claus - Little Brenda Lee

brenda lee lasso santa remixbrenda lee lasso santa 1I don't think folk across the nation would be happy with Little Brenda Lee if she were to carry out the threat inherent in the title of her song I'm Gonna Lasso Santa Claus. The very thought of having St Nick tied up and unable to attend to his duties is abhorrent to children the world over. Santa, however, is not a child and whilst lassoing him may be one way to get his attention, on the remix we see an alternative way. Less lasso, more leg... Gotcha!

Christmas Present Blues - Jimmy Reed

jimmy reed christmas present blues 2jimmy reed christmas present blues 1Melancholy Jimmy Reed has got the Christmas Present Blues. Not much that can be done about that. But we can cheer up the cover of his single. Now let's think, what might cheer up Mr Reed? Perhaps a picture with some Christmas presents in it? Yes, that would be a good start. And what if they're wrapped in blue ribbon. Great, now we're getting somewhere. And to top it off, a busty blonde babe in blue lingerie too. Perfect!

And Winter Came - Enya

enya and winter came remixenya and winter came 1As we move further into December, the artwork remixes get more wintery and cold. And Winter Came is an album full of Celtic karma from Irish artist Enya. Enya is famed for her recordings in which she sings all of the pieces of a 900 piece choir to give an etherial sound to her music. Probably the reason why her live shows are so flat. In the original cover we see Ms Brennan standing in a wintery scene in front of a white wintery horse. Choice! In the remix we see a girl who looks just as wintery and cold but - and you would never have guessed it - the clothes under her wintery shawl have all fallen off. Descant!

Run Rudolph Run - Chuck Berry

chuck berry run rudolph run 2chuck berry run rudolph run 1Chuck Berry issues a wise mantra to the most famous reindeer in his song Run Rudolph Run, but the cover of this 1958 song does nothing to explain why it is that the one with the shiny red nose should travel so quickly. Is it to deliver presents on time? No! As we can clearly see in the remix, it is because a sexy babe in a bikini is chasing after reindeer with a shotgun, of course. That makes complete sense. Pull!

Frosty The Snowman - Various Artists
Wednesday, 3 December, 2014, 05:27 - Christmas Crackers, Miscellaneous Covers

frosty the snowman 2 remixThere are many, many versions of Frosty The Snowman by a myriad of artists including Gene Autry, Perry Como, The Ronettes and Johnny Mathis. But as so many of these versions were after-thoughts, or cynical attempts to sell records at Christmas, and not released as singles in their own right, many don't have original cover artwork. This remix is not therefore a remix because there is no original work to compare. Instead, it is just a random cover that could be used for any version of Frosty The Snowman. In this version of the cover we see a very naughty Frosty who has obviously taken the notion of
we'll have some fun now, before I melt away

very literally indeed. Who would have thought that snowmen were capable of that kind of fun, eh? Chilling!

Snow - Cocteau Twins

cocteau twins snow remixcocteau twins snow 1Two consecutive days of remixes where the title of the song is just Snow! Today's is by the Cocteau Twins. The original cover shows all manner of christmassy dealies including Santa, xmas trees and even some deely-boppers. This is all set against a white background that is presumably meant to illustrate snow. We prefer the remix in which there is snow on the ground and two girls (are they twins?) hugging each other for warmth. They need to keep warm as they are only wearing high-heeled boots. Piercing!

Snow - JJ72

jj72 snow 2jj72 snow 1As the calendar flips over to December and winter approaches, it's time to start remixing wintery artwork. Today is the turn of JJ72 whose original cover for their single Snow only really represents the title of the song through the grainy interpretation of the odd picture that sits at the center of the cover. The remix is equally subtle as we see a young babe blowing snow from her icy hands. But look carefully and, oh yes, now I see it, she doesn't appear to be wearing any clothes. Arctic!

Last Train To London - Electric Light Orchestra

elo last train to london remixelo last train to london 1Continuing the train theme (for not particular reason), we find ourselves on the Last Train To London courtesy of the Electric Light Orchestra, a.k.a. ELO (to use an acronym or two). What do ELO expect to find on the last train? It seems that the answer is a 'simon says...' type space-ship. We, at AllBum.Art think that a naked babe in a railroad yard is much more likely. Well, in the world we inhabit it would be. Steaming!
